SWMM5 Input Data Format: input_data_format.pdf
A small segment of the entire drainage system is shown below for two configurations, with and without
stormwater detention (Storage Unit 4). The storm of February 15-17, 1995 was captured by a rain gage
on campus and used for calibration: predicted node hydrographs are shown below. The outfall is at
Erwin Road, Node 339). A hypothetical detention unit (Node 4) and outlet weir were subsequently added
to the drainage system, and the damping effect on conduit hydrographs is shown below.
Network with detention unit added:
Conduit 202 is downstream from the hypothetical detention pond:
Conduit 209 is a natural channel downstream from the observation station:
Conduit 205 is a circular concrete pipe:
Conduit 201 as stormwater exits the campus:

Installation of the SWMM Version 44h Code, Document and Data Files.
The installation files are:
44h_exe.zip 44h_doc.zip rain_rdu.zip swmm_data.zip
Download these Zip files into a Windows 95/98/2000/XP sub-directory, extract the files
and run the SWMM code with the example files, e.g., the rain_rdu.dat file, which must
access the rdu.dat NWS file.
